How to plan a month of social media posts in one afternoon

Published November 3, 2026 · by Social Muse Team

Most small businesses do not run out of things to say. They run out of time to say them. The fix is not more effort every day; it is one focused session a month.

1. Pick three to five themes

Look at what your customers ask about most and what you want to sell this month. Turn that into a few themes, for example: product tips, behind the scenes, customer stories and offers. Every post you write will belong to one of them, so you never start from a blank page.

2. Decide how often, per platform

You do not need to be everywhere every day. A realistic starting point:

  • Instagram and Facebook: three to four posts a week
  • LinkedIn: two to three posts a week
  • X and Threads: short posts most days
  • YouTube: one video a week or a month, if video is part of your plan

Write the numbers down. They become the slots you fill.

3. Batch-write in one sitting

Write all the posts for one theme together. Your thinking stays in one place, and you will write faster. In Social Muse you can ask the AI for Post ideas on a theme, use Write a post from a short brief, and then Make shorter, Make longer or Rewrite in a tone until it reads right.

4. Adapt each post for each platform

The same message needs a different shape on LinkedIn than on X. Instead of rewriting by hand, use Adapt to a platform to fit each version to the platform's style and length, then Suggest hashtags where they help.

5. Schedule everything, then step away

Put each post on the calendar at the times your audience is active. Social Muse publishes at the time you set, on each platform you chose, and tells you if anything fails so you can fix it.

6. Review once a week

Spend fifteen minutes a week on Analytics: which themes got the most engagement, and which fell flat. Move more of next month's slots to what worked.

One afternoon a month, fifteen minutes a week. That is a posting routine a busy team can keep.
